The Giants want to repeat next season. No simple task. Hasn't been done since the Yankees won three straight World Series titles from 1998 to 2000.
How did the Yankees do it? With a massive budget, spectacular ballplayers and some keen in-season acquisitions by GM Brian Cashman.
Fast forward to the present, and Giants GM Brian Sabean is bringing almost the entire team back, other than Juan Uribe, who was replaced by Miguel Tejada.
It's similar to what Cashman did between the 1999 and 2000 seasons. Not much in the offseason other than securing the return of his core. But once the season began, Cashman made a bunch of deals that helped keep the Yankees on top. For example:
